More than a billion people worldwide watch UEFA Champions League. Over 70% of them watch on their own, at home. Heineken, sponsors of the event, challenged us to engage these fans and make their TV experience more like being a fan in the stands, more active and more thrilling.

Heineken Star Player, the world's first dual-screen football game makes watching football on TV a live, social experience. Play along live, online and on mobile, and anticipate the outcome of match moments in real time. Take on your friends and the world in every UCL fixture. Star Player revolutionised the way we watch football forever, delivering a full 90 minutes of brand engagement every game.

A year in the making, Star Player was hugely complex with multiple technical and logistical challenges. As creative lead, my role spanned from concept to delivery; managing the multidisciplinary team that impressively scored Heineken a Gold Lion at Cannes. We helped Heineken capture a space that no other UCL sponsor could, with an app that added genuine value to fans - and doubled their share-of-voice compared to all the other UCL sponsors.
